Frequently asked questions
Is tracking my child's location legal?
In most countries (including Türkiye), tracking children under 18 with parental consent is legal. Adult family members' location is consent-based — each member explicitly opts in inside the app.
Do my children pay for a subscription too?
No. Only the parent who creates the family pays. Children and other members join with a QR code, completely free — they do not even need an email address or password.
Does it drain the battery?
No. The location interval adjusts automatically to movement: very sparse while stationary, more frequent while travelling. When the battery is low the interval stretches automatically, so the phone lasts all day.
What if my child closes the app?
FamilyGuard runs in the background with a persistent notification and restarts itself even after a reboot. On some brands, battery optimisation can stop apps — following the steps in our Uninterrupted Operation Guide resolves it.
How long is location history kept?
30, 90 or 365 days depending on your plan. Older records are deleted automatically. If you delete your account, all your location history is permanently erased within 30 days.
